At Baía da Parda, on the east coast, the warm shallow water serves as a nursery for juvenile lemon sharks (Negaprion brevirostris).

Are they dangerous?

No. The juveniles are 40–80 cm long, shy and feed on small fish. There are no records of incidents with visitors.

Golden rules

  • Do not touch or feed the animals.
  • Wear water shoes (there are rocks and sea urchins).
  • Move slowly and keep quiet.
  • Do not use non-biodegradable sunscreen.
